Badass...to be or not to be!

Imagine if we just said to all our worries, F#@k off;

Imagine if we allowed ourselves to be in freefall with the universe! Do you feel this might allow self-love?

I hear the term ‘Badass’ used so frequently. Usually in a way that supports the user of the word to identify with a source of self-empowerment…a sense of ‘I can do anything I set my mind to’.

I have been perplexed in hearing this used, mainly by women…women on a path to overcoming some sort of barrier in their life…some sort of rough patch. I have also heard it used by men…in a similar and different context. The different context being one that implies roughing up, beating of ones chest or inflicting grief or pain on others.

So, let’s look at the word ‘Badass’. A quick internet search will uncover the word being of North American origin that means ‘a tough, uncompromising or intimidating person’. Urban Dictionary (www.urbandictionary.com) defines the term as being someone that doesn’t talk about being a badass, stays true to themselves, doesn't give up, is not a jerk, knows their limits, does not make enemies or go looking for fights. Wiktionary (Wikipedia’s online dictionary) describes the term as ‘A mean or belligerent person; a person with unpleasantly extreme attitudes, behaviour or appearance’ and their youth slang definition being ‘A person considered impressive due to toughness, courage, and skill’.

Yes…I am perplexed! Why would anyone striving to overcome difficulty or achieve a new level of self, use this word so flagrantly as a descriptor for self-fulfilment or self-empowerment?

I completely understand and respect the need for any individual in the process of overcoming barriers, blockages or traumatic experiences to align to a word or statement, to lift their energy or viewpoint at any time. Totally get that.

What if we searched for and connected to self-love as the means to ‘breaking through’ and maintaining a sense of self-achievement or even self-pride? What if, in times of difficulty, we were able to surrender to the control our mind puts on our situations…surrender to the guidance of our own inner self…surrender to the option to freefall to where life is taking us, without question, with love for ourselves and others?

Do we really know what using the word Badass is doing for us? In the realms of metaphysical concepts like the Laws of Attraction and other universal laws such as the Law of Cause and Effect, the Law of Vibration and the Law of Polarity (which can easily be defined as, everything is on a continuum and has an opposite), we can suppress and transform undesirable thoughts by concentrating on the polar opposite. It is the law of mental vibrations.

So, can telling the world that I am a 'badass' be vibrating an energetic resonance that we deserve ‘tough, uncompromising and intimidating situations or persons’ in our life. Is it a form of subconscious control to steer one away from the core issues that have created the difficult situations? Core emotional issues needing to be healed, released, discarded? Controversial I know.

What I do know is that I live by the Laws of Attraction and Polarity. Our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions produce energies which, in turn attract like energies. Negative energies attract negative energies and positive energies attract positive energies.

Is it a matter that clever marketing has projected the word Badass within urban slang to a level that is now bound by mass belief that the use of it is doing good? Is it the need for us as humans to grab onto something that makes us feel good just because it sounds good due to uplifting inflection / tone or popularity?

Or is awareness needed to support the removal of an illusion? That awareness may just be, by using a word such as badass, we are controlling what is going to happen to us because of the contextual beliefs associated with the word…because of the Laws of Attraction and Polarity…because of the belief that being tough will get us through everything. What if we replaced control and ‘toughness’ with surrender…with self-love?

Imagine if we were to respond to the concept of #selflove [defined as regard for one's own well-being and happiness, chiefly considered as a desirable rather than narcissistic characteristic] in the same way we do to the word Badass? What would that look like? An uninterrupted focus on one’s own well-being and #happiness. An ability to self-analyse any difficult situation or frustration, to allow self-love to guide oneself to a greater state of wellbeing. A learnt skill and ability indeed.

We are rarely taught how to overcome traumatic or difficult situations in our lives…is it time to #surrender ourselves to the benefits of this skill (self-love) and not get caught up in the hype of the latest buzzword redesigned by marketers for the purpose of profit? Again, controversial for some...I know.

Imagine if we maintained self-love for ourselves; imagine what this would do for the world. A shift we can all strive for.
